conversation with patient What Do I Do if I Have a Breast Problem?

If you've learned you have a breast problem--perhaps through a self-exam, doctor's examination or mammogram--chances are you're concerned or even a little frightened. Understanding the actual problem and learning how to deal with it are the first steps on the road to recovery. Although most breast problems are benign, it's important to consult your doctor or nurse practitioner in all cases of breast abnormality.

For women who cannot afford care, free or low-cost breast cancer screening is often funded by the government and is sometimes available at Mercy. Please call us for more information. In addition, our support groups can help women who have already been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Breast care and other health information is available 24-hours-a-day by calling 1-800-MD-MERCY. During normal business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, you may call The Hoffberger Breast Center at Mercy directly at 410-332-9330.
